First Question, what is WordPress ?

Well, before we go forward we need to know the answer properly. WordPress is a free and open-source content management system (CMS) used to build and manage websites. It’s especially popular for blogs but is also widely used to create everything from simple websites to complex e-commerce stores. User-Friendly Interface, Themes, Plugins, Customizable, Large Community are the Key Features of WordPress. You don’t need to know how to code to use it. There are a huge number of Pre-made Themes design templates to change how your site looks. Add extra features like contact forms, SEO tools, online stores (via WooCommerce), etc as your Plugins.

And guess what ?

Most Plugins are completely free !! You can tweak the design and functionality to fit your needs as you wanted. Tons of tutorials, forums, and support available online about WordPress. And you know, approximately 43.3% of all websites or roughly 472 million sites use WordPress.

Holding a 62.7% market share according to Colorlib. This dominance is more than ten times greater than its closest competitor Shopify market share is 6.7%. Wix – 4.6%. Squarespace – 3.2%. Joomla 2.2%.

There are two versions of WordPress. One is WordPress.com Another one is WordPress.org.

I would like to recommend you to go for the WordPress.org version because it is more powerful and flexible, but you need your own hosting and domain. On the other hand, WordPress.com can be hosted for you. It’s easier for beginners but with some limitations unless you pay for their services.

Why would I recommend the .org version of WordPress ?

Let me explain first the .com version. The WordPress.com version is a hosted website platform that uses the WordPress software but takes care of all the technical stuff like hosting, backups, updates, and security for you. It’s run by a company called Automattic. Co-founded by one of WordPress’s original creators.
